Food for thought: Baltic NGO ideas for shaping sustainable food policy

Project objectives
Together with other non-governmental organizations in the Baltic region, through advocacy and education, to inform the public about the new "Sustainable Food Systems Regulation" being prepared by the European Commission and its future impact on various food chains, human health and the environment.
Project results
1. On February 28, 2023, a hybrid (participants could participate live and remotely) conference “New EU requirements for sustainable food systems – how will we implement them in Lithuania?” was organized in the hall of the Vilnius University Scientific Communication and Information Center. The aim of the event was to present the new EU “Sustainable Food Systems Regulation” and discuss how it will affect Lithuania. Over 50 participants from various scientific institutions, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Health, NGOs and businesses participated in the event remotely and directly. 2. A project report was prepared on good examples in the areas of food production, waste prevention, and unhealthy food avoidance.
