Fish protection

The Lithuanian Nature Foundation has been working on sustainable fishing initiatives and projects for many years. Through these activities, we aim to ensure that fishing in both the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon is carried out as sustainably as possible, with minimal impact on biodiversity. Through our activities and ongoing projects, we introduce innovative fishing methods and promote the use of selective and minimal fishing gear and methods that help protect fish stocks and avoid bycatch of unproductive fish and other aquatic animals. We also pay great attention to the education of local communities and government institutions, and promote effective fishing management mechanisms and their sustainable exploitation.
